Much like Alien/Aliens the original was great and somehow they topped it with the sequel. Arnold is always great. Linda Hamilton and her character Sarah Connor both really matured and blossomed. She is a total bad-a-- in this movie. This movie has the best chase scene of all time (I don't even really like chase scenes). Arnold on a chopper, shotgun in hand, chasing and being chased by the terrifying morphing terminator - who is in the cab of an 18-wheeler, going in and out of the LA River. Fantastic! I love that Arnold got to be the good guy this time, and they really bumped up the effects with the new terminator. Good stuff! I find this movie and its predecessor particularly relevant as we careen headlong into Claude/Grok/Gemini becoming self-aware. These movies might now be blueprints for the salvation of humanity. I wish I were kidding. ~Sigh~ :-/

I know, I know, many folks won't watch a black and white movie, and they are missing out. Gregory Peck is at his most fabulous in this movie. He's gorgeous, worldly, and a tad mercenary until the end. If you are only going to see ONE Gregory Peck film, make it this one. I believe this is Audrey Hepburn's first movie, and what a start! She is beautiful, adorable, and even though she is a spoiled princess we see her humanity/vulnerability/innocence/loyalty and love her. The city of Rome is so prominent in this movie it is nearly a character of its own. What a gorgeous, fun city. I find it amusing that Eddie Arnold (of Green Acres) plays a bit of a sneaky playboy in this. Made me see him differently, he really can act. This is the only RomCom ever made worth watching IMHO.

I could see Lincoln liking this movie as it portrays a middle-aged man in deep doo-doo and he is super stressed out. Although it is kinda violent and bloody too, and I am not sure that works for the big boss. However, I really liked this movie, it's nearly 5 stars for me. William H Macy is fantastic, Steve Buscemi is ALWAYS terrific, and I love Francis McDormand. Really great casting. How on earth they make putting a human into a woodchipper funny is beyond me, but they pulled it off. Then too maybe it was just me who found that scene funny?

I really enjoyed this movie, and it is a must see for Trek fans. I am surprised to see that Tony gave this the highest rating as I think he hates Star Trek. I think that goes to show how well made this movie is. The plot is super clever and funny; the actors are top notch. They do an amazing job spoofing both the original Star Trek cast and TNG characters. The aliens are adorable, and the phrase, "historical documents" lives in my head in their voices.

This movie is typical West Anderson, but even better as it has Ralph Fiennes, ooo la lah! I love this quote from Ralph's character - M. Gustave: "Mmm, I've had older. When you're young, it's all filet steak, but as the years go by, you have to move on to the cheap cuts. Which is fine with me, because I like those. More flavorful, or so they say." Haha, brutal and funny, I love it.

Didn't think they could top the original, but they did! Sigourney and her character have matured. The cat is now a kid, really ramping up the emotions. I love the marines, love the Sargent, "A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal is a banquet. Every paycheck a fortune. Every formation a parade. I LOVE the corps!", and Bill Paxton sooo good. Michael Biehn as the male lead is wonderful. I swear that dude got the two best roles in all of Sci-Fi, Corp. Hicks here and Kyle Reese in Terminator, musta sold his soul to the devil to get such juicy roles. He did a great job being brave, scared, and totally competent. He's the man you want in a crisis for sure.

I really do not like movie musicals. For me they require too much suspension of disbelief. However, this is wonderful. Lin Manuel Noriega is fantastic. The whole cast is great; King George is super sassy and smarmy truly delightful. There are only two movie musicals worth watching, this and West Side Story.

Love this movie. First movie I ever saw on video and it blew me away. Sigourney W. is wonderful as Ripley. The Alien is horrifying, and the crew being stranded in space really makes it scary. The real villain is Ash, and he truly is evil. If you like scary suspenseful movies you should check it out.

My-oh-my, Gregory Peck is a silver fox in this. A silver fox who inadvertently adopts baby Satan. This movie came out in 1976 when I was 11 years old. I remember going to see it w my mom and grandmother. They were raving about how handsome GP was as we left the theater. I thought, ewww that old man? Oh, I get it now. I also remember covering my eyes in fear through about half the movie. Now, as an adult, not only do I like to ogle Gregory Peck I also like the story. The devil is always interesting. However, I have found the really scary parts of this movie is just the music. If you watch it with the sound off it's not much at all. Here I will grab some words from the interwebs "choral elements . . . with foreboding Latin chants." Yep, scary music.

I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. I don't typically like sports ball, or sports ball movies. I was doubly surprised to find out that I knew the answer to winning baseball when I was about 8 years old. When I learned that you could get a "walk" to first base I thought - why not just stand there, ignore the pitches, and take first base every time? It seems that's not a bad strategy according to this movie. Brad Pitt is always fabu, always! I bet Billy Bean was beyond psyched to be played by Brad.

Loved the book, and it's a really good adaptation. Well done Rob Reiner (RIP - what a dark ending for a great actor/director) Kathy Bates is fantastic as is James Caan. This movie is one of those with a scene so brutal I cannot bear to watch it; I hide my eyes with my hand just in case my eyelid accidentally opens. However, most of the movie isn't brutal, it's mostly a psychological thriller I guess you'd call it. A writer trapped alone with his "biggest fan" who happens to be a crazy lady. You have to be in the right frame of mind to handle this very dark material IMHO. Don't watch it if you are depressed, it might send you over the edge.

Will Farrel is a scream. Bob Newhart as his dad is a wonderful cameo. Will does a great job making his character sincere, adorable, naive, and funny. This movie is just adorable. However, the ending sucks. Hate to say it, but I feel they ran out of ideas at the end.

Ooooh this is a really good remake. However, I like the original protagonist better, cuz Gregory Peck cannot be beat. This movie has the advantage of being made decades later, so it could be a bit spicier. I say watch them both if ya like scary movies. But modern audiences will probably prefer this one.

Such a creepy movie! While I am not sure what it takes to do a TV news broadcast this strikes me as kinda realistic. If it bleeds it leads. That sure seems to be true of most media. Sensationalism sells. Jake Gyllenhaal does a great job in this. I totally believed that this guy was a stone-cold psychopath.

This movie is so interesting if you are interested in what it takes to write a screen play, and I am. The main character is played by Meryl Streep. She's a writer for the New Yorker. She wrote a piece on Orchids, and the real screen writer (who also really wrote Being John Malkovich) wrote this, and it's so self-reverential. The screen writer is trying to adapt the NYer Orchid story to the big screen, all the while 'Being John Malcovich' is being filmed, and we see that going on. Its a movie inside a movie. It's difficult to describe, and it's so much more than the little bit I am writing here. It's very clever, quite original, I've never seen anything quite like it, and I enjoyed it a great deal.

Ya gotta see Vincent Price as the last man on earth. Ya just gotta!

I could almost give this five stars, and I might go back and change it to five. This movie is adorable, poignant, funny, original, inventive, creative, heartwarming, and other positive adjectives as well. The cast is fantastic, and it even has Vincent Price! Oh, that is what I want to do, vibe code this game so that we can add movies by actor, I want to add all Vincent Price movies. Oh, and Tony is incorrect this movie is much more than Okay, but then too it's not really a dude-movie, so perhaps he is right from a male perspective.

I generally like these end-of-the-world type movies. Dustin, Kate, and Morgan are fabu, as they always are. I learned what fomites are from watching this movie. That came in handy during COVID. I think the reason I like this kinda movie is it makes me go outside and be super grateful that the world is not suffering from this plague. These kinda movies are often laced with a lot of truth and real-life possibilities for this nightmare scenario to come true. I love the relief when the movie is over and we are all safe.

Loves me some Charlton Heston and Yule Brenner. Ya can't go wrong with those two dudes at their peak of hotness. This is one of those big budget Hollywood epics, much like Ben Hur. I like that kinda thing, but kinda dated by today's standards.

Not sure who added this, but I am surprised it wasn't me. I love this kinda sci-fi, action, mystery flick - it's right up my alley. Arnold is fabu, the story is compelling, loved it. Could almost give it 5 stars.

Oh, Yule Brenner is at his sexy finest in this movie. I have got to rewatch this as I barely remember anything beyond him being FINE!

Sci-fi, thriller, mystery is right up my alley. I enjoyed this movie, but it's kinda dark and depressing.

Keira Knightly is beautiful, wonderful, and super smart in this. What's his name, the Brit is really good too. My understanding is that this movie, while based on a true story, has (as they all do) taken a lot of artistic license. What can ya do, it's Hollywood. I still really enjoyed it. Great sense of urgency as the good/smart guys use their big brains, racing to save humanity from the Nazi's.

I am not a huge Julia Roberts fan, she's OK, often good not great. I remember trying to watch this movie on video. I thought it was just so trifling. Up until that point I always finished watching a movie even if I didn't like it. These characters were so trifling, sorry I have to use that word again, but it fits. I just didn't care what happened to them. I turned it off halfway through. I really don't like Romcom's in general, so take my opinion w a grain of salt.

Out of nearly 700 movies I have only given two the lowest rating. Went to see this at the movies with friends. I had heard this movie "is so scary!" This movie is not that scary, but what made me HATE it is the camera work. It's all herkie-jerky as it's supposed to be filmed by one of the people out in the woods who is terrorized by this situation. I was motion sick through the whole thing, and it just wasn't very compelling, certainly not compelling enough to suffer motion sickness. I hate all things that give me nausea -vertigo, stomach bugs, long car rides, boats, weird stripes and colors, and this dumb movie.

I must confess I am not a big Shakespear fan, except for the sonnets particularly Sonnet 18, and Othello. Please do not tell my English Professors. Romeo and Juliet I find particularly irksome. How on earth do you expect me to take a teen romance seriously? Really? They are kids, get over it, you will find someone new next week and you won't even remember this bozo.

I think this is probably a good war movie as such things go. However, I saw this in the theater and was traumatized by the violence. Very realistic and well-acted, so much so that I had to walk out. It was just too brutal and real for me. Why do humans do that to each other? So glad I have had a cushy life where such things can be viewed from afar with horror.

I dunno, maybe I didn't get it. I hated the slow mo stuff. Just left me cold.

I watched quite a few Bond flicks as I was writing a character who was really into them. They are interesting to see just as a part of pop culture, but they really are not my thing at all.

I dunno, I think maybe I didn't understand what QT was going for here. I saw it in the theater and walked out before the end as the shoot 'em up scene was just gross and gratuitous.

I remembered this movie quite fondly, until I went back to rewatch it as a comparison to the 2022 Dune. There is no comparison, this is a low budget joke compared to the 2022 Dune. Kyle McLaughlin is really not good in this; Timothy Chalamet blows him out of the water. Timothy Chalamet IS Paul Atreides, he IS Muad'Dib. I think there are two big issues w this movie, the budget mutsa been very low, and the special effects in 1984 were limited. This is the kind of story that needs good effects, and this version does not deliver. In my mind, Baron Harkonen was better in this than in 2022, but now that I see it again, he's kinda cartoonish, as is Sting. However, Patrick Stuart is always dreamy, he might be the only good thing in this movie.

I think I'd need a class to enjoy this movie. I just don't get why it is held in such high regard. Which is probably due to my ignorance, but until someone enlightens me that is my opinion.

The end was so not satisfying.

While I typically love Kubrick, I don't love this. It's just icky, scary in a not fun way. Dark in a disturbing way that I did not enjoy. Scary and dark are often fun for me, but not here.

I was blown away the first time I saw this movie. I think we are all accustomed to zombies being slow moving creatures. Not in this movie, they are fast and ferocious. I was surprised and scared by that. Brad Pitt is fabu, and I am just annoyed by his wife in this. Glad she doesn't have that large a part.

I like Hitchcock and Jimmy Stewart, Kim Novak not so much. Now that I think of it, I often don't care for the female leads in Hitchcock movies. I should watch this movie again. Now that I have had vertigo for a few years the only thing I can think of when I hear that word is ugh, no, no, no.

I really enjoyed seeing Adam Sandler in this serious role. He is fabu. Its an interesting story of a dude in deep doo-doo. Really depressing end though, so watch at your own risk.

I want both Tony and Nate to see this movie and tell me what they think. I feel there is a scene that only men can relate to. I asked a male friend about it, I said, "this scene is dumb because no one would ever blah blah blah" no spoilers here. My male friend told me that "Dude would definitely blah blah blah." Hmm, men are weird. This movie has great actors including Gary Oldman who is such a shape shifter. He's really amazing.

I went to see this as a friend wanted to. I was kinda dragging my feet as I was not a huge fan of the original, but I went anyway. I was blown away, I was expecting something I dunno kinda frat-bro boring. It was kinda a dude movie for sure, but really good action! Tom musta made a deal with the devil. I know Hollywood folk get face lifts, but normally they don't look that good. Tom looks like a million bucks.

This movie is so good, such a deep message about racial inequality of the mid-century and justice or lack thereof. Gregory Peck is just wonderful in this; he IS Atticus Finch. The child actors are great too. A couple words stick with me from this movie 'chifforobe' and 'Hey'. The Chifforobe plays a part in the telling of the "crime" and Scout says 'Hey' to an old neighbor lady. The lady takes great offense to this, and I am still not sure why. I should pro'ly read the book.

Rob Reiner comes through with a winner yet again. This movie is so funny. Ya gotta see it.

This movie is so compelling, really kept me on the edge of my seat. Ron Howard does an AMAZING job with this true story of 13 boys who are trapped in a cave after rain seals the entrance. Divers come up with a very inventive way to save them risking, and at least once losing, their own lives in the process. I saw a documentary about this movie, and the diver who was really there say this movie is very true to life, portraying just how it happened. The only thing Ron Howard had to change was putting some light in the underwater scenes. In reality it was so dark that movie viewers could not see anything if he had not put some light there. Just imagining that the reality was even scarier/darker than the movie is wild. Really good stuff!

I am actually not sure how much I really like this movie. I mean we all saw it every year at Easter time, so that was fun. This movie is fantastic for 1939, the way they used both color and black and white film was really innovative. But I really don't like movie musicals, and as a kid the thought that that awful neighbor would take her dog, and the flying monkeys were very upsetting to me. I think we were all freaked out by those monkeys. It's a good movie for sure, but I have a lot of mixed feelings about it.

While this is a good mystery, I really didn't like the way the name Keyser Soze was said a million times. I often cannot remember characters names, but there is no escaping Keyser Soze, Keyser Soze, Keyser Soze . . .

I loves me some Kurt Russel, and he's fabu in this. I see this is classified as Horror, Mystery, Sci-fi, which are all my faves. It's no wonder I like it. I see Nate loves it. I can see that; it's kinda a dude movie.

This movie was ruined for me by the less than funny, and overrated radio DJ's Don and Mike. Back in the day, I accidentally tuned in as they were divulging the big surprise ending. It's a good movie for sure, but I would have like to seen is sans hints about what is going on.

Kubrick really took a lot of license with this one. He really disregarded the character that King created. But that's OK, it's a good scary movie. It's not one of my faves as supernatural stuff often doesn't do it for me. But hey it's Kubrick & Nicholson, & Stephen King. I mean that's gotta be a good combo, right?

Another good Stephen King adaptation, and I attribute that to there being no supernatural elements. I could give this five stars, it's really good. Morgan Freeman and Tim Robins are soooo good. I know Stephen King is much maligned for not being a literary writer, but the dude sure can spin a yarn.

As I recall Kevin Bacon is the bad guy in this. Lots of adventure, action, and scary stuff. Scary in the way that Deliverance is scary. You think the river is the thing to beware of, but nope, it's the creepy humans ya gotta watch.

Classic 1950's horror with Vincent Price. I gotta see this again, it's been decades since I saw it.

Holly Hunter and Harvey Keitel are fabu in this. I never thought of Harvey as sexy until I saw this. The two of them have a very strange, illicit, affair in a remote jungle like area of New Zealand.

This movie is so good! I didn't get through the book, as the author was spending page after page going into the chemistry of making water. Zzzzzzz. However, the movie is fabu, none of that boring chemistry stuff, just action. Man against the elements taken to new heights as this man is battling the elements of Mars!

I need to rewatch this movie. I barely remember it. Gregory Peck is always fabu, and as I recall he is kinda suffering a mid-life crisis as a WWII veteran, who now puts on a grey flannel suit and takes the train into Manhattan every day.

I love old black and white horror films, and this one is a classic, it even has Vincent Price, who is always fabu. While this one is not nearly as good as the remake, I can say that the scene towards the end when the fly/man is caught in the spider web, ugh, is very creepy! I can still hear it, "Help me! Help me!" in a little fly voice.

Fantastic remake of the 1950's classic. This one is really much better than the original, not only due to the acting, but also because of the special effects.

I only saw this once, so I don't remember it that well. But as I recall for a scary movie it was more substantial than most. Many scary movies are just garbage, but the writers did a good job with this one.

I am not sure if I like this movie as much as I like the era it reminds me of. This movie was such a big deal when it came out, you couldn't miss it. Even the theme song was huge. I was eight when it came out, so even by 70's completely laxed child rearing standards I wasn't going to be able to see it at that time. Not sure when I finally saw it, but I did see it again a year or two ago, it's still pretty darn scary IMHO. If you are into scary devil stuff, you will like it.

This movie is far too sad for me to ever watch it again. It's a good one for sure, but you have to be up for watching how truly horrible humans can be.

This is not a good movie. But I do like it. I like Jake Gyllenhaal, and I like apocalyptic movies, so that's probably why I like it.

I was watching a funny short video where the punchline was, "She doesn't like Swiss Army Man!" The short was very cute and funny, and I thought - what the heck is Swiss Army Man? So I started to watch it. It is very funny, quite unusual, and inventive. I didn't finish it, not because it isn't good, I just had to do something else. I really need to finish this movie.

This movie is funnier than I thought it would be. It's not a comedy but it has its moments. William Holden is kinda smart-alecky, and I found it interesting to see him at his peak as he was 31 in this movie. Gloria was way past her prime at, GASP, 50 years old! How could she even walk? I often like these old movies to see how much the world has changed.

Ooof, ya wanna lose faith in humanity and specifically in the Catholic Church? This movie will do that for ya. Its good stuff, but not for everyone.

Many Stephen King novels struggle with screen adaptations as he has such fantastic/supernatural stuff in his books. This one, much like Misery, does not have supernatural elements, and I think that really helps the adaptation. Interesting to see these talented child actors who went on to other things. Rob Reiner is always great.

I haven't seen this in a hundred years, but as I recall it was cute. Tom and Daryl are always fun to watch. Really gotta suspend disbelief cuz, I mean, she's a mermaid. The only part that really still is in my mind is the two main characters walking down Madison Avenue. The mermaid needs a human name, and she sees the street sign and suggests that that should be her name. Tom Hanks is a bit taken aback, as that was NOT a typical female first name at the time. I credit this movie with the huge number of girls named Madison nowadays.

Hitchcock and Gregory Peck. How can you go wrong?

I wasn't sure what this movie would be about. I was kinda shocked as it turned out to have some brutal child abuse in it. Good movie, well made, well-acted and all of that, but certainly not for everyone.

Oooooh loved the book. I can still remember laying out in the sun enjoying this really weird vampire book. Anne Rice kicked butt with this one. She takes the sexy vampire to a new level. This adaptation is really good, and I mean how can you go wrong w Brad and Tom?

Haha, I have a mouse in my house. I was cleaning up an area the mouse had gotten into, and I felt contaminated. I took a "Silkwood Shower". I find that to be a great phrase when you need to scrub the skin off yourself cuz you are filthy. Meryl Streep is always amazing. It's been a hundred years since I watched this movie. I gotta see it again.

Haha, I can hear Eddie Murphy's voice of Donkey in my head. That dude is a scream. This movie is adorable, original, clever, funny and occasionally poignant. Cannot say enough good stuff about this movie. Just see it.

What's in the box? What's in the box?! I tell ya, you do not want to know what's in the box. This movie is gruesome, and very scary. I am not a Gweneth P fan, but I loves me some Brad and Morgan Freeman. The only thing I really didn't like about this movie is it is physically, visibly dark, I mean like turn on a dang light! I don't understand why the cops do not turn on lights when they get to a crime scene. That and it's raining all the time, so even the outdoor shots are dark, not emotionally I mean eyeball wise. I can't see what's going on.

Oooof, this movie is amazing. My two friends and I sat and cried for quite a bit as the credits rolled. I typically watch movies I like several times. This one is too dark, and emotional for me to watch it again. Once was enough, it's amazing. I swear Seinfeld was spot on when they had Jerry and his gf making out during Shindler's list. Jerry's mom was aghast, and I would be too. How on earth could you make-out during this incredibly dark, sad story? Really funny story line about a really dark movie. Well done Spielberg and well done Seinfeld!

I don't think this is a great movie, but I enjoyed it. Peter Weller and Nancy Allen do a good job. And once again we have a movie warning us about AI. It's gonna kill us all I tell ya!

I typically like a dark, gritty dramas, but this one got to be a tad much even for me. Love the opening scene at the diner and the debate about tipping. QT is such a great writer of dialogue. This opening is much like the one in Pulp Fiction where Vincent and Jules debate the seduction value of foot rubs. Good stuff. An all-star cast, great writing and directing, this is good stuff, but it's dark and kinda violent so beware.

I am not big on Grace Kelly. However, Jimmy Stewart and Hitchcock are always fabu. This movie is probably a tad slow and old fashioned for modern audiences.

I saw this at the drive-in movies. I am sad for everyone who has not had a chance to go to a drive in. They were certainly on the way out when I was a kid/teen, but still around for sure. This movie is such great action/adventure. I had a crush on so many of my professors at GMU I totally get writing love & you on eyelids like the gal does in the start of this movie. Of course, I didn't and I wouldn't, but I get it. Professors are often hotties, and this one is smokin' hot. Snakes, why'd it have to be snakes? Actually, I might have been wrong in an earlier review when I said Rob Roy has the best sword fight scene ever. The one with the scimitar in this movie probably is the best cuz it's funny, and funny always wins with me.

I love Ralph Fiennes in everything, EVERYTHING. He's dreamy. I have only seen Rob Morrow in that Alaska TV show he did, interesting to see him in this. John Turturro is always great. Corruption sure seems to be a 2026 theme, so despite being made in 1994 I feel this movie is kinda relevant, even if the corruption is just on a quiz show.

Another Hitchcock classic. If you like movies and you like horror/mystery you gotta see it, ya just gotta!

2015? 2015? They remade this? How did I miss that? I gave this 4 stars as I thought it was the original. My media bubble is super secure I tell ya. I miss a lot because of it.

Oo la la, Gregory is lookin' fine, fine, fine in this flick. I tend to like apocalyptic movies, and this is a good one. I haven't seen many Ava Gardner movies, so I am glad I saw this one. She's a boozy, middle aged, past her prime, once hot gal. Which I think is not far from her actual self. I really do not like Fred Astair's character or part in this movie. I feel it was shoehorned in and to no good effect. Makes me wonder if someone owed Fred or his manager a solid. If you like the end of the world genre you should see this. If you don't like that kinda thing skip it.

Put a vampire or a spaceship in a movie and pretty much I will give it a shot. This was an odd vampire movie; I was a tad confused by the ending. I didn't like it enough to watch it again. But I liked it enough to give it 4 stars.

If you like movies you have to see this. Classic Hitchcock and Carry Grant at his suave & sophisticated finest, climbing all over Mt Rushmore to evade the bad guys. There is nothing like hiding in Thomas Jefferson's nostril, I tell ya! Come on, how can you resist? Funny to think Carrie's real name was Archie Leach. Archie cannot possibly be suave, but Carrie sure can.

I thought this movie was so cute. Napoleon is a loveable dork, his brother is such a jerk, and in a funny jerky brother kinda way. I love Napoleon's deadpan delivery, I think we have all met teens like this. I think I also went to high school with teens like this. It's been quite a while since I saw this. I am gonna have to watch it again.

This movie is so cute, and well-acted to boot. While I think the story is original, and I like the admin gal so much I have a pic of her on my office desk, I have to say lately (in the post Epstein era) the idea behind this story freaks me out. Do you know what adrenochrome is? Lately is has occurred to me that the monsters in this movie are kind of getting energy from adrenochrome. It seems perhaps real-life monsters do as well. I hope it's a lie, it's probably a lie, please tell me it's a lie.

I found this movie to be entertaining. A man cannot make memories, but he is trying to find the guy who murdered his wife. As you can imagine if you cannot make memories, it's kinda tough to investigate anything. So he tattoos all the stuff he wants to remember on himself. Weird and inventive. Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss and Joey Pants are all great actors, and they do a great job in this movie.

This movie first came to my attention when I watched the movie "Quiz Show". One of the characters is on a game show and the answer to 'what movie won best picture in 1956?' is Marty, so I had to see it. I was not disappointed, although I think modern audiences might be. Another black and white, slice of life kinda story from the 50's. I love seeing Ernest Borgnine in this role. Marty is a butcher who has some crappy friends. All of his siblings are married, and Marty would like to be married too. He meets Besty Blair at a dance and they hit it off. There is a little strife and turmoil, very 1956, but I like that kinda thing.

Great movie, scandalous, not for everyone. I really like Shelly Winters in this, she does a great job of being the overbearing, fake, narcissistic mom. She makes me really dislike her. I think that means she's a good actor. James Mason is always fantastic. He's the suave, educated, perverted, Humbert Humbert. I'd love to know why Nabokov chose to give that character the double name. Odd choice. A lot of folks love Peter Sellers, I don't have much appreciation for him, and this movie is no different. When I think about Nabokov, which isn't often, I think about the line from the Police song "He starts to shake and cough -- Just like the old man in -- that book by Nabokov." It a great line for that song, totally fits. 'Please don't stand so close to me!'

I enjoyed this movie. Not sure how historically accurate it is. Daniel Day Lewis is always fantastic. That dude becomes the characters he plays.

I remember watching this movie with a friend. We sat there and cried when this movie was over, my friend was a dude, actually he's still al dude. We watched this in the theater with subtitles, it was wonderful. However, sometime later I saw it at home, and it was dubbed in English. Not worth watching. Truly striking how much difference bad dubbing made. So ifin you are in the mood for a tearjerker see this, but only see it in the original Italian, and only if ya feel like crying.

This movie is really good but pretty scandalous. It's not for everyone. A hit man kinda adopts an underprivileged pubescent girl. Things get weird. Like I said it's not for everyone. But the actors do a really great job.

Such a good movie. Really well done, I mean it's good ol' Stevie S, you can never go wrong with him. The premise of bringing dino's back to life is just so compelling. Really good acting. If ya like action/adventure this is really good stuff.

I just changed my review. I really couldn't get past the puppy scene. I mean how can you do that to a puppy? A sweet Beagle puppy! I know this is probably a really good shoot em up action pic. Keanu is always fabu, and tons of folks like this movie. BUT THE PUPPY! THE BEAGLE PUPPY! Really, I cannot watch movies where bad things happen to dogs. I won't be right for a week.

Totally remember seeing this at the movies when I was ten. I liked it then, and I have watched and liked it a few times since then. Now I really enjoy looking back at the styles, I mean we all know what is gonna happen, the shark is no surprise. Much like with The Omen a lot of the fear is generated by the music. Well done, John Williams! While it is a scary monster movie, I have never found it that terrifying. I mean just stay on dry land, easy enough to avoid that problem. I read the book not long ago and was surprised by how different it is from the movie. As I recall the book was much more centered on an affair between the chief's wife and Richard Dreyfuss, which does not happen at all in the movie. Spielberg really focused on the fish.

I bet I will remain the only person here to have seen this. You guys are missing out. While this movie was made in 1963 it's still very funny. It has an all-star cast of comedians, on a cross-country car/plane/bicycle chase trying to find millions in cash (actually I think it's a few hundred k but back then it was like millions). It's under the big W. I am smirking as I think of Milton Berle and Terry Thomas turning Ethel Murman upside down and shaking her to find the car key she has hidden in her undies. She was a lady of a certain age, in a dress and girdle, and that just was not done back then. I'm telling ya, this is funny, you should see it.

I dunno, this was kinda sad. I mean sure it has a spaceship and I like that, and I like Matthew M. he does a good job. I went to see this w my friend Kimmie, she fell asleep, so that's her review, and she's not wrong.

This movie is so darn cute. I tell ya the writers/animators really nail emotions and memories, very clever and original. If you like Pixar you will like this, I promise.

This movie is very entertaining. I have said it before and I will say it again, you put a spaceship in a movie and I will watch it. Fantastic esprit de corps in this movie. Makes ya proud to be an Earthling. Will Smith is always fun/funny. Pit him against aliens and you have a hit!

I remember watching this several times as a kid. At that time, it seemed like a good scary movie to me. My understanding is that Vincent Price never got his due as he was blackballed for being a commie. That kinda relegated him to B movies such as this. However, I have always liked Vincent Price and am glad I added this and some of his other movies. I'd say I should rewatch this, but after rewatching Dune was so bad, maybe I should just leave this as a nice childhood memory.

I really like Glenn Close in this, really shows her range. She channels JD's tough old granny. This movie isn't amazing, just a kinda slice of life when you grow up poor in the US. If you can overcome poverty and adversity in the U.S. you can end up going quite far. I am a fan of the picking yourself up by the bootstraps kinda message.

I think the movie poster nails it. I like John Cusack and he's quite good in this. Jack Black has a small part, and he's a scream.

I don't remember a lot of this movie. As I recall Clint was a, "get off my lawn" kinda guy in this. I like Clint in most things.

Totally fund dance movie. Can't go wrong w John Waters and Divine! Super cute, movie and has a nice social justice message as well.

Standard gangster fare and done well. Great production values, actors are fabu, writing is good. Opening scene, if I am remembering correctly is pretty gruesome. I tell ya Joe Pesci can make you believe he is a vicious sociopath. The bit of trivia I like from this movie is that Scorsese's mom plays Joe Pesci's mom. She's great. Just what you'd picture a gangster's mom to be. A little naive, good cook, wants to feed everyone, wants her son to get married. If you like gangster movies you will like this.

"Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?" If you laughed at that we can be friends. For real though, good movie, Russel Crowe is amazing in this. Typical stuff - honor, fighting, loyalty, betrayal, . . . Good stuff IMHO. "Are you not entertained?!" Yes, yes, I was entertained by this movie. Worth 2.5 hours of my life.

Nine likes and no dislikes. I guess I gotta see this!

While this isn't a great movie, I loves me some Gregory Peck, so there is that. The other thing I thought was interesting was the antisemitism portrayed in this film. Our protagonist's gf turns out to have a touch of the 'tism, antisemitism that is. Gives him something to think about.

I really enjoy the first half of this movie. I find it funny when men insult each other in clever and inventive ways as R Lee Ermey does here. Ermey is so real, so rough, so unrelenting, so deadpan serious and yet funny it's not surprising he was actually a boot camp instructor. I bet they had to do a lot of takes as the other actors must have cracked up a lot. However, the end of the first half is too dark/sad for me, and the second half leaves me cold as it's really just a war movie at that point, and I don't particularly like war movies.

I love conspiracy theories, and one of my current faves is that Kubrick made this movie more as a documentary than as fiction. I didn't think much of this movie when it came out, but if this stuff really goes on it's beyond creepy. The last scene is in a toy store, and once again I didn't think much of it at the time. But recently I saw some vids about this movie, breaking it down, talking about the symbolism etc. If what they are saying is true, its horrifying.

Yet another sci-fi movie giving us clear warning that AI is gonna kill us all, as I type this on an app that we made with AI. Is that ironic or just a coincidence, perhaps it's just stupidity. Ugh. I am worried I tell ya!

I don't know why I like almost all mountain climber movies. I would never dream of climbing a mountain. I like a good hike with some minor climbing, like say Great Falls, but a real mountain, with ice, and snow, and frostbite, and death. No freakin' way! Yet, I find the movies compelling. Man against the elements, life or death, shear will and determination. I like it.

Saw this in the theater and it scared me to death. You have got to be up for scary-gory sci-fi to see this one.

Here's a weird thing. I gave part one five stars as I LOVED it. I am 99% sure I saw part two, but I do not remember it at all. Is it possible I haven't seen this yet? I cannot believe that this was in theaters, and I didn't see it at the time. But I also cannot believe that I wouldn't remember this movie. If I didn't like it that would have been a memorable disappointment, and if I liked it, I probably would have watched it more than once. I love Dune! I am going to rewatch this soon, really soon. Or maybe I will be watching it for the first time? I really don't know.

It's been a very long time since I saw this, but as I recall it was fun looking at a very young Gregory Peck. He was too young to really be truly attractive IMHO. And if memory serves, and it often doesn't, I remember thinking that Jennifer Jones, the fem fatale in this flick, was poorly cast. She's supposed to be Mexican, but she looks like a standard white gal who needs to wash her face. Bad makeup. I think she was the director or the studio boss's girlfriend. Don't quote me on that.

I read this in a GMU English class, one of the best classes and teachers ever. I liked the screen adaptation, I mean you cannot go wrong with Meryl and Phillip Seymore Hoffman. I need to watch this again, as our current zeitgeist is giving me doubts about everything everyone does behind closed doors, and on private islands, and isolated ranches, and Manhattan mansions . . . I HAVE DOUBTS. I HAVE SUCH DOUBTS!

This IS a Christmas movie! I really enjoyed it, and Alan Rickman is fantastic as the bad guy.

I wouldn't really recommend this movie to most people. It's dated for sure. But I like old Hitchcock movies. One thing I found super annoying, although maybe it was realistic for the time, was Gracy Kelly picks up the phone and doesn't hear anyone on the line. In my mind you say, hello, hello a couple times then hang up. I swear Grace Kelly says hello? Hello? hello? like a hundred times! There is no one on the phone lady give it up!

Ooooh Tony and I were chatting about this movie. It is so dark, so weird, so violent, so disturbing . . . While I watched the whole thing and I found it compelling enough to watch until the end, I was left feeling really icky and kinda depressed. While I'd say it's a good movie, I wouldn't recommend it to most people.

I might be the only person who likes this movie. It's got a great cast, but the story is definitely not for everyone. I liked the story, although it's one of those where you come away going, was that real or was that just his fantasy? Maybe if I saw it again I could figure that out. One of the main reasons I like this movie is Sam Rockwell's portrayal of Chuck Barris. I loved Chucky-baby back in the day and Sam does a great job channeling him.

Tom Hanks is amazing in this. His stellar acting ability made me, and many others, tear up as a volleyball floated away, a volleyball! Wilson! Wilson! I swear I was not the only viewer invested in his relationship with Wilson.

I tend to watch this movie around Easter most years, as that is when it is on the tube. It's one of those epic, big budget, big studio, historical type films. I think modern audiences wouldn't be that into it. But, at a minimum, ya gotta see the chariot race scene. Oooof this movie is BRUTAL. I believe this movie is the one where I learned what curb stomping is. YIKES! Ultimately this is a redemption story, but it's just so dark and ugly. Watch this only if you are into dark, brutal, gritty movies.

I really liked the movie, a bit Lolita-ish so definitely not for everyone. The cast is great, the story is both interesting, scandalous, and a tad routine. Not long after this movie came out, I wrote a short story with a dead narrator. I was told as writers we should not do that. However, this movie does just that, and I was fine with it. I mean ya gotta suspend disbelief for MOST movies. Doncha?

Really liked the book and the movie. While I think we can all agree that vigilantism is not a good idea, this movie sure makes you feel like it was 100% justified in this case.

I love this movie so much. I rented a theater and invited a buncha friends to see it with me. So much fun carrying on and hollering at the screen. That was only fun because my other friends who love this movie and I had seen it so many times that we knew the dialogue by heart. So hollering didn't interfere with our enjoyment. This is a truly scary movie. Unlike The Omen which was scary mostly because of the music, Silence of the Lambs makes a regular song (Goodbye Horses) scary due to the association. You can't beat the cast. Jody foster is perfect as Clarise. Anthony Hopkins is the best serial killer ever. There is a reason this movie won the Oscar for Best Picture. It's that good.

If you work in a cubicle this movie is a must see. Mike Judge's sense of humor really works for me. From the opening scene when Michael Bolton (not THAT Michael Bolton) is stuck in traffic this movie has me laughing. Even now I am smiling just thinking about how funny this movie is. In my last office we loved this movie so much we got a red Swingline stapler. IYKYK.

This is another tearjerker for me, but I still watch it every year at Xmas time. I know a lot of people won't watch black and white movies, and those folks are missing out. This movie is indeed very old fashioned but with a timeless message. You never know how many lives you touch, and the people you touch are so much more important than money can ever be.

Every scene in this movie is quotable, every scene - ok maybe not EVERY scene, but most. The writing/dialogue is just so good. This movie combines several of my favorite movie characteristics - it's funny, dark, clever, violent, unexpected, shocking, and full of gangsters. It even has a cool toothbrushing scene! Combine that with an all-star cast. Woot! One of my all-time faves.

I don't know many people who have seen this movie. They are missing out IMHO. Tim Roth is a fantastic villain, Liam Nissan is a terrific hero, and Jessica Lange is totally worth avenging. The sword fight scene is the best in movie history. I like this kind of story in general - the good, honest man wronged by the powerful rich guy and he really has no hope of revenge . . . or does he?

Another fabulous screen adaptation. I am gonna say it - but read the book too, cuz as we all know the book has wonderful details that the movie just does not have time for. You cannot go wrong with this cast. Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duval, Talia Shire. The screen play was in part adapted by Mario Puzzo, so yay. And directed by Francis Ford Coppola. This movie could not have missed. From the opening at the wedding, when Johnny Fontain sings, to the horrifying horse scene this movie is gold. Gold I tell you! If ya like gangster movies this is the one.

As always Gregory Peck makes me swoon, and I like his portrayal of F. Scott. I find it interesting to see a screen adaptation of this infamous affair. While I think Deborah Kerr does a good job, I don't get why people back in the day thought she was so gorgeous. I don't remember Eddie Albert's part in this at all; I am just noticing his name on the poster. I suppose that means I need to rewatch this. :-)

Oooooh both this one and the remake are scary. I like this one better cuz it has Gregory Peck as the lead and Robert Mitchum is a great bad guy. However, in the remake Nick Nolte is the lead - meh, but the bad guy is Robert De Nero and he is fabu. And the remake has a couple good cameos from both Peck and Mitchum! The original is a tad less scary as movies were a good bit more tame back in the day. The remake pulls no punches and is scary & violent. I gotta re-watch the original as I see on the poster that Telly Savalas is in it, and I don't remember that at all.

And I said what about Breakfast at Tiffany's . . . I like this movie mostly because I like Audrey Hepburn. I have yet to read the book, but my understanding is that the movie is really glossing over what is really going on - prostitution. If you want to see how horribly, comically Hollywood was willing to portray an Asian man, take a peek at Mickey Rooney's part. In 1961 we were all living on another planet I tell ya!

I hate to say it, but this movie is BORING. Please don't tell Gregory Peck I said that. I still love him even though he was in this dud.

Ripper: Have you ever heard of a thing called fluoridation. Fluoridation of water? Mandrake: Uh? Yes, I-I have heard of that, Jack, yes. Yes. Ripper: Well, do you know what it is? Mandrake: No, no I don't know what it is, no. Ripper: Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous Communist plot we have ever had to face?

If you love a conspiracy theory this is a must see. I like conspiracy theories and really like this movie. I think the actors do a good job, and I find the overall premise satisfying as most conspiracy lovers will. I rewatched this recently and had forgotten that Telly Savalas is in this! Who loves ya baby? He pretty much gets to be the hero, although it's a rather small part. OJ Simpson is also in this, and he has no lines. He just stands there looking handsome. The final chase scene is with helicopters vs an old timey bi-wing plane, with our protagonist hanging on to the wing for dear life, good stuff!

This is great sci-fi. I am not sure why but towards the end my attention always wanes.

I was surprised by how good this movie is. I don't remember hearing about it previously and only saw it recently. I wonder if the media kept it quiet as Mel has not been the darling of Hollywood for quite some time. Then too maybe I just missed the promo. This movie is done in subtitles really giving it an authentic feel. They used actual indigenous Mexican actors who were approximating the language of 1511. They shot it in Mexico so the setting, the costumes, dialogue, speech, and actors, really everything just seems very authentic. Seems like quite the undertaking. I can see why Mel couldn't get a big studio to fund this. I feel this movie does a great job of portraying the brutality of life in Mesoamerica in the 1500s. So much so that this movie is not for the squeamish.

I would not recommend this movie to many people. It's old fashioned, it's black and white, it does not fit modern tastes. However, I liked it as I like old Bette Davis movies.

Keira Knightly is so dreamy in this, so beautiful, so talented, no one has played this role better. Matthew Macfadyen is pretty darn dreamy too as Mr. Darcy. This is my favorite version of this movie. I often feel that one "must read the book" to really "get" the story. In this case, while the book is of course fabulous, I think you can just watch the movie to fully get it.

Nothing beats the original, except the sequel in this case. Don't get me wrong this is a really good movie. If you like sci-fi and action movies, it's a keeper. Since it was made in 1984, the special effects are a tad dated now. One thing I like better in the original is Kyle Reese, who travels back in time to save the mother of the revolution. I love this character. Michael Biehn does an amazing job portraying a time traveler, who has to do the impossible. I have a crush on him. He's so capable. I really like the way the movie goes from Sarah as victim in this to Sarah as hero in T2. But for this one, Reese is the hero. I also find it interesting that Bill Paxton has a tiny part in the opening, and he and Michael Biehn were both in Aliens.

This movie is so good, so quotable - "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Rob Reiner knocks it out of the park with this one. The cast is fantastic, and it's such a lovely legacy for Andre the Giant. Written by William Goldman it has a neat backstory. He wrote the story; a studio bought it and put it on the shelf never to be made. Goldman had so much confidence in the story that he bought the story back with his own money, went searching for someone to make it . . . If you don't like this movie, I gotta wonder about you ;-)

Keanu is always wonderful, as is Lawrence Fishburn (loved him since Peewee's Playhouse. Yep, he was in that too) I had never seen or perhaps noticed the gal that plays Trinnity, Carrie-Anne Moss before this movie. She is powerful. I love Joe Pantoliano in everything I've seen him in, especially the Sopranos, but this too. The idea of this movie is unique and more relatable now as we sit in our homes, plugged in, being fed whatever slop is being dished into our media bubbles. If you like sci-fi I consider this a must see.

Part II is good, but I don't feel it tops the original. The book is really both movies. I like seeing how Michael has developed into a real man, but I cannot stand his wife, Kay, ick. Not sure why, but the image that always sticks in my head is Michael's home office, the window is prominent and it has irregular, very natural spacer bars between the panes of glass, as if someone made it with twigs, and small sticks. I want windows like that. If you like gangster movies, this is a good one.

What a love story! I like everything about this movie. While the underdog doesn't win, he does get the girl, which is more typical of a comedy. No comedy here folks - just grit, determination, and love.

I have read this book quite a few times and seen the movie more times than I can remember. I once wrote a paper comparing Scarlett to Anna Karenina. Fun having two 800-page books in my lap as I try to think and type. In hindsight I think she is similar to Hedda Gabbler too. So often we fall in love with a book, but the movie is a disappointment. Here that is not the case, it's a really good adaptation. I can only imagine the struggle the screenwriter had deciding what to cut. Spoiler alert they cut Archie and Will Benteen, but more importantly they cut out two of Scarlett's children! LOL, somehow it still worked. My father didn't like this movie, he said it would have been more interesting had the focus been on Rhett and not Scarlett. I can see his point. I disagree but maybe.

I saw this when it came out and really liked it. At the time I remember thinking that Toy Story stole this movie's thunder with their big budget, blockbuster promotion, big deal actors etc. It was a similar movie in that a kid's toy comes to life. However, I must have seen this in the 1900's, I don't remember much of it, just that I thought it was really good. I want to rewatch this.

I cry at the end every single time, sometimes I skip the end for that reason. The ending isn't sad; it's a poignant end to a really funny film. Steven Martin has been one of my faves since he made standup albums (yep vinyl albums) back in the '70's. He is a wonderful straight man in this, and John Candy is always hysterically funny. There is a scene in this movie that I can watch over and over and it makes me laugh every time. "You're going the wrong way! What? You're going the wrong way! You are going to kill someone! Oh they're drunk. How do they know where we are going? Yeah, how do they know where we are going?" I'm chuckling just thinking about it.

I thought this movie was so different when I saw it in the theater the first time, I went back and watched in in the theater two more times. There is so much to see in this movie that I missed upon first viewing. I read the book after seeing the movie. I didn't enjoy the book that much, but I found it interesting that some of the outrageous things in the dialogue were even more outrageous in the book. Brad Pitt is always going to be one of my all-time faves, and he delivers here as he always does. I can say the same for Edward Norton. Helena Bonham Carter does a fantastic job playing Marla, which wasn't apparent to me until the second viewing. We all know the #1 quote, but there are so many good quotes! "I don't want to die without any scars."

This movie is really good if you like quirky movies. If you aren't up for suspending disbelief it probably isn't for you. I think Jim Carey does a fantastic job with this serious role, and Kate Winslet is fabulous in everything, including this. I love the premise, which is if there is something you want to forget, like say a bad breakup, you can get this service to completely remove that memory and all associated memories from your mind. Which, as you can imagine, gets quite messy. Good stuff!

Love this adaptation of the novel. I also like the 1984 one with Kyle MacLachlan, but I think this one is even better. I think it is better for two reasons. Timmothy C is just better than Kyle M at portraying Paul Atreides. Also since this was made in 2021, it has had nearly 40 years to improve the FX, which matter in this type of sci-fi. However, one thing I found disappointing in this version is Baron Harkonen. If you read the book the Baron is the most vile and despicable person. I feel that was portrayed much better in the 1984 version. Also the 1984 one has Sting which is fabu, and Patrick Stewart - you cannot go wrong w PS. My suggestion - Read the book first. Watch the 1984 version then watch this one. Keep in mind this is only the first half of the story.

OMG this movie, I went to the theater 3x to see this on the big screen. I have only done that with one other movie - Fight Club. The opening drums are so good that I got miffed when some late arrival obstructed my view. SIT DOWN! The animation is unique and wonderful, a cross between stop motion and animation. The characters are so well written, I am getting choked up right now thinking about the dog talking to the "Little Pilot" as he lays in a hospital bed. Poignant, funny, original, well-acted, well written. If you love your dog, or you love Wes Anderson, this movie is a must see. If you didn't like this movie, we have beef! ;-)

I love this movie. The concept of one's consciousness being able to inhabit another person's body, is fun and thought provoking. The actors are great, the story is very offbeat, compelling and often funny. Cameron Diaz is normally so beautiful I nearly didn't recognize her as they really frumped her up for this role. If you like existential, offbeat stories and can suspend disbelief you might like it.

For 1968 this movie is amazing but, like all of us created in the 1960's, it is indeed showing its age. However, I find it fun to see what folks thought 2001 would look like - what they got right, what they got wrong. I like sci-fi in general and love Kubrick, so take my opinion w a grain of salt. In this day and age of worry that AI might kill us all, I feel this movie's portrayal of HAL, the talking computer that runs the ship is spot on. It's remarkable how scary the sentence, "I can see your lips move, Dave" can be. If you like scary space movies you will probably like it.

I like gangster movies in general. This one is good, the actors are fabu. My understanding is that the scene with Pesci's mom, the actor playing mom is actually Scorsese's real mom, and they improvised the whole scene. I thought that was a good scene and interesting background. Haha I just double checked that little bit of trivia. That scene is actually in Good Fellas, not Casino. I often confuse those two movies because DeNiro is the lead in both, and Pesci is in both. I like Good Fellas better. If you like gangster movies, it's worth two hours of your precious life. However, Casino goes on for three hours, so you really gotta like gangster movies.

I am always on the edge of my seat when I watch this movie, at least I was the first couple times I saw it. How do they create such suspense when we KNOW how it's gonna end? Somehow Ron Howard, and Tom Hanks take a well-known story and make it very compelling.
